Top 5 Anticipated Book Releases: 2019

Hello everyone, and welcome back to The Bookworm’s Fantasy! I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and have a wonderful new year. Today I’m posting my top 5 anticipated book releases for the year 2019. I’m also going to be recapping my most anticipated book releases for the year 2018 that I posted this time last year (you can find that here), reflecting on how those books measured up – or even if I ended up reading them at all! So, here goes…

Reflecting on my Top 5 Anticipated Book Releases for 2018

  • The first book on my list was ‘Perfect Death’ by Helen Fields. I was lucky enough to receive this as an ARC, so I didn’t even have to buy it! I’ve read all the books in this series now, and really enjoyed this one too!
  • The second book on my most anticipated reads list was ‘Let Me Lie’ by Clare Mackintosh. I did end up reading this book a few months ago, and really enjoyed it. It’s a bit different to Clare Mackintosh’s earlier novels, but is still definitely worth the read.
  • Another book on my most anticipated reads list was ‘Bring Me Back’ by B.A. Paris. I read this right at the beginning of 2018 and it was absolutely fantastic – my favourite book by B.A. Paris so far! It also made my Top 5 Books of 2018! I highly recommend this to you all 🙂
  • ‘The Fear’ by C.L. Taylor also made my list. I was lucky enough to receive this as an ARC, and I thought this book was absolutely phenomenal. It is by far C.L. Taylor’s best book yet – in fact, it’s one of the best books I’ve ever read! It also made my Top 5 Books of 2018.
  • And finally, the last book on my list was ‘Guilt’ by Amanda Robson. I did receive an ARC of this book, but unfortunately I was left quite disappointed. The book was far too explicit and violent for my liking, and I found it very difficult to read at times. I wouldn’t recommend this.

Top 5 Anticipated Book Releases: 2019.

Sleep by C.L. Taylor.

All Anna wants is to be able to sleep. But crushing insomnia, terrifying night terrors and memories of that terrible night are making it impossible. If only she didn’t feel so guilty…

To escape her past, Anna takes a job at a hotel on the remote Scottish island of Rum, but when seven guests join her, what started as a retreat from the world turns into a deadly nightmare.

Each of the guests have a secret, but one of them is lying – about who they are and why they’re on the island. There’s a murderer staying in the Bay View hotel. And they’ve set their sights on Anna.

Seven strangers. Seven secrets. One deadly lie.

Someone’s going to sleep and never wake up…

Release Date: 21st March 2019 (Hardcover)

Those of you who read my blog regularly will know that I absolutely love C.L. Taylor’s books. I am lucky enough to be taking part in the blog tour for this book, so I should be receiving my ARC soon! C.L. Taylor’s last book, ‘THE FEAR’, is my favourite of hers so far, so I can’t wait to read this one and share my verdict with you all!

The Evidence Against You by Gillian McAllister.

the evidence against you

It’s the day her father will be released from jail. Izzy English has every reason to feel conflicted – he’s the man who gave her a childhood filled with happy memories. But he has also just served seventeen years for the murder of her mother.

Now, Izzy’s father sends her a letter. He wants to talk, to defend himself against each piece of evidence from his trial. But should she give him the benefit of the doubt? Or is her father guilty as charged, and luring her into a trap?

Release Date: 18th April 2019

Gillian McAllister’s books are absolutely fantastic, and she’s a really lovely author to interact with on Twitter too! Her first two books were psychological thrillers, and her book before this was a courtroom drama, so I’m intrigued to see which direction she has followed with this latest book!

Crushed by Kate Hamer.

Phoebe stands on Pulteney Bridge, tights gashed from toe to thigh. The shock of mangled metal and blood-stained walls flashes through her mind as she tries to cover her face so she won’t be recognised. It wouldn’t do to be spotted looking like this. She’s missing a shoe. She feels sick.

Phoebe thought murder and murder happened. Thoughts are just thoughts, they said. Now she knows they were wrong.

At home, Phoebe arranges the scissors and knives so they point toward her mother’s room. She is exhausted, making sure there’s no trace of herself – not a single hair, not even her scent – left anywhere in the house. She must not let her thoughts unravel, because if they do, there’s no telling who might be caught in the crossfire, and Phoebe will have to live with the consequences.

Release Date: 2nd May 2019

Kate Hamer was one of my favourite authors back when I first started my blog, and my first ever author event was one of her book launches! She hasn’t released a book for a while, so I’m really excited to see what she comes back with. The blurb sounds absolutely fantastic! I’m lucky enough to be on the list for an ARC, so hopefully I’ll receive that soon!

After The End by Clare Mackintosh.

(No cover revealed yet.)

Max and Pip are the strongest couple you know. Only now they’re facing the most important decision of their lives – and they don’t agree.

As the consequences of an impossible choice threaten to devastate them both, nothing will ever be the same again.

But anything can happen after the end . . .

Release Date: 25th June 2019 (Hardcover)

Clare Mackintosh is another one of my favourite authors, and I’ll always be excited to read her new books! I was lucky enough to meet her in person this year at an event with C.L. Taylor, and hearing her speak about her writing was fascinating. I haven’t heard too much about this book at the moment, so I’m excited for the release!

The Runaway by Hollie Overton.

the runaway

Becca Ortiz, a psychiatrist for the Los Angeles Police Department’s Mental Health Unit, finds her life upended when her teenage foster daughter, Ash runs away, leaving little explanation. As Becca begins to unravel Ash’s secret life, she’s thrust into the untamed no-mans land of Skid Row. Desperate to find Ash before it’s too late, Becca will have to make a choice– trust the system she’s always believed in or take matters into own hands to bring Ash home.

Release Date: October 2019 (Paperback)

I have raved about Hollie Overton’s novels on my blog, and I’m so excited to read her next book! I was lucky enough to interview her recently, and her comments about ‘The Runaway’ really intrigued me. I’ll have to pick this up as soon as it’s released and let you all know my thoughts!

Happy reading 🙂
